Michigan Continuing Education Requirements

RECENT CHANGES FOR YOUR MICHIGAN LICENSE AND CONED REQUIREMENTS:
1. Your Real Estate License Expiration Date has changed: There is no longer an October 31 expiration date for all Michigan licensees. Your updated expiration date is when your license expires as well as your annual ConEd completion deadline throughout the 3-year license period. To lookup your license expiration date with the State of Michigan, click here.
2. NEW ConEd Requirement: As of February 13, 2024, all licensees must complete a minimum of 1-credit hour of courses annually that involves compliance with local, state, or federal fair housing laws. Please note that completion of a Fair Housing course prior to February 13, 2024 does not satisfy this requirement for the current year.
Empire Learning does have courses that satisfy this requirement.

CONED REQUIREMENTS IN MICHIGAN
Michigan real estate licensees are required to complete 18 hours of continuing education in every 3-year renewal cycle. This includes:
- 2 hours of approved legal credit per year, for a total of a minimum of 6 legal credits in the 3-year license cycle
- 1 hour of approved fair housing credit per year, for a total of a minimum of 3 fair housing credits in the 3-year license cycle

The remaining hours can be either legal, fair housing, or elective course credits to total 18 credit hours before the license can be renewed.

Empire Learning recommends that all licensees complete our new Michigan Fair Housing and Legal Updates 2024 course as it is approved to satisfy this new fair housing requirement in addition to the required annual 2-hours of legal credit.

In accordance with state regulations, all courses offered by Empire Learning for credit in Michigan have been certified by CE Marketplace.

It is the licensee’s responsibility for documenting the evidence to support the fulfillment of Continuing Education requirements; the Department does not maintain a record of this information.
