New Jersey real estate licensees are gearing up for the 2025 license renewal, completing continuing education to keep licenses active, but the PSI online system can be confusing. In this blog, you’ll learn exactly what to do, how to interpret your PSI account, and the easiest way to ensure your CE credits are reported correctly.
Why Verifying Your CE Matters
Renewing on time is critical to continuing your real estate practice without interruption. If your CE credits are not in order, you risk running into late fees or even a lapse in licensure. By understanding the PSI dashboard now, you’ll avoid any last-minute surprises before both the CE deadline of April 30, 2025 and the license renewal deadline of June 30, 2025.
Quick Overview: Four Steps to Renew Your NJ Real Estate License
Your license renewal in New Jersey involves four main steps:
- Complete Your CE Requirements by April 30, 2025. If you hold a Salesperson, Broker-Salesperson, or Broker license, you must finish 12 hours of continuing education (CE) before renewal. Your CE provider will report these hours for you, so please make sure that they have the correct information (especially your license number).
- Verify Your CE on PSI. Log in to your NJ PSI account and double-check that your courses are recorded under the correct term. This article explains this step in depth.
- Complete the NJREC Online Qualifying Questionnaire. After you confirm your CE, go to the NJREC Online Services portal to fill out the Qualifying Questionnaire.
- Notify Your Broker. Your Broker of Record is ultimately responsible for finalizing the renewal. Be sure to let them know you’re all set so there’s no license renewal delay before June 30, 2025.
PSI Terminology vs. NJREC Terminology
Here’s where the confusion usually starts. The PSI system uses the term “Learning Plan” to refer to a license cycle, while the NJREC simply calls it a “Term.” This discrepancy in language can make it feel like you’re dealing with two different processes. They’re referring to the same time span for your CE requirements and license renewal cycle.
- Current Term (2025): This covers your real estate license cycle from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025. To avoid any late fees, you must finish your required 12 CE hours by April 30, 2025.
- Next Term (2027): This will be the next license cycle of July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2027. You can’t complete these credits yet, because you haven’t finished the current term. You might see “locked” or “in progress” when you click on this term in your PSI Learning Plans.
- Previous Term (2023): This was the most recent license cycle of July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2023. If you’re currently reactivating your license, it’s possible you’ll need to show CE from this previous term, so make sure your provider has applied any relevant completions to the correct term. Scroll down for more information if this applies to you.
Bottom line: If you’re renewing for the 2025 cycle, always select the 2025 term when you log in to PSI.

Navigating Your PSI Account
When logged in to PSI NJ Real Estate CE Tracking System, you’ll see your profile details and a list of Learning Plans—or what the NJREC calls License Terms. When you click on the current term for 2025, you will see at the top of the screen: “NJ Real Estate Continuing Education Program (07/01/2023 – 06/30/2025).”
As you can see in the image above, once you’re inside the current term, you’ll notice two main areas:
- “REQUIREMENTS”: This lists your total number of CE hours required and the breakdown of how many hours you need in specific categories (e.g., core, ethics, electives, etc.). You’ll see a green progress bar for each requirement. If it’s fully green, you’re done with that category.
- “CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSES”: This section is your CE transcript for the term. It shows the course name, completion date, the number of credits you earned, and each course category.
When the total credits are 12 and the required categories are completed, you’re ready to move on to the Qualifying Questionnaire at the NJREC Online Services portal.
🤔 Common Reasons Your CE Credits Might Not Appear in PSI
If you’ve finished a course and you don’t see it on your PSI transcript for the correct or current term, it doesn’t necessarily mean there’s an error. It could be due to one of the following:
- PSI hasn’t updated yet. The provider may have reported your credits recently, but the system can take 24–48 hours to show the results.
- Wrong term. If you need credits for the 2023 term but your provider applies them to 2025, this will cause a delay (more information below).
- Incomplete course. Double-check that you’ve actually finished the course and received a certificate of completion. Without the course completion, the provider can’t report your credits.
- Incorrect information. If your provider has a former name, a misspelled name, or an inaccurate license number, the CE completions might not match your PSI account.
- Slow reporting. By law, providers have up to 7 business days after you complete a course to report your credits. With the June 30, 2025 renewal deadline approaching, check with your provider to know when they report CE completions to PSI for New Jersey.
If none of these reasons apply or you’ve waited the necessary time and still don’t see your credits, contact your provider. They’re usually the first line of support because PSI defers to providers for any course reporting issues.
⚠️ Credits Reported to the Wrong Term
Providers are reporting credits now for the 2025 current license renewal term. If you are reactivating your license or require that your credits be reported for the previous term, it is important that you let your provider know before they report the credits. This will ensure no delays in reporting, reactivation, or license renewal.
If credits are reported to the wrong terms, you must contact your provider, which will involve NJREC and PSI's help. Delays will occur, and they will increase as the end of the renewal cycle approaches.
