Implicit Bias Training

Implicit biases are an inevitable part of being human. While there is no way to completely eliminate implicit biases, recognizing when and how they occur is the first step in mitigating their impact. In the real estate industry, unchecked implicit biases can lead to discrimination and continued housing inequality.

This course will introduce how we use mental shortcuts and how those shortcuts can lead to implicit biases. It will also discuss the types of implicit biases and how at their worst, they can lead to stereotypes, discrimination, and even racism. The course will wrap up by exploring fair housing laws that attempt to mitigate implicit biases, and how we as licensees can use certain strategies to keep bias at bay.
