Who Needs to Renew Their West Virginia Real Estate License?

All Salespersons, Associate Brokers, and Brokers must renew their real estate license by June 30th annually.  This includes all active and inactive licensees.

What Are the West Virginia Real Estate Continuing Education (CE) Requirements?

West Virginia real estate licensees are required to complete 7 hours of approved continuing education annually by June 30th prior to license renewal. 

  • Salespersons may complete any WVREC-approved courses. 
  • Associate Brokers and Brokers must complete at least 3 hours of broker-level CE courses.

Are There Any Other Continuing Education Requirements in West Virginia?

Continuing education courses may not be completed more than once in two consecutive years. To ensure you do not repeat courses, log in to your CE Broker account to view the previous year completions.

The following are exempt from the required continuing education, but are still required to renew their license each year:

  • A licensee who held a license on 7/1/1969 and renewed it continuously thereafter.
  • A licensee who is on inactive status.
  • A licensee who qualified for a license by passing both the national and state licensing examinations during the year of the first required renewal on or before June 30 of that year.

How Can I Complete My West Virginia Real Estate Continuing Education?

Continuing education courses in West Virginia may be completed live in person in a classroom or webinar, or online.  All providers and courses must be approved by the West Virginia Real Estate Commission.

All West Virginia licensees can verify completed continuing education information by logging into CE Broker.

How Does the West Virginia Real Estate Commission Verify My CE Completion?

Renewal Information

CREDIT REPORTING:
Empire Learning reports course completion credits every business day to CE Broker. Please allow 24-48 hours after your completion for credits to appear in your account in CE Broker
LICENSE RENEWAL:
Licenses can be renewed with WVREC only after the credits are reflected on CE Broker. To renew your license, log in to the WVREC Online License Renewal System between May 1 and June 30.
