Licensees are required to complete 18 hours of certified Real Estate Continuing Education Courses every 2-year renewal cycle, including 9 hours of approved Core topic courses. As part of the 9 Core hours, licensees must complete a 3-hour Utah Mandatory Course.
Continuing education must be completed by the 15th of the month of renewal in order to ensure an on-time renewal.
New Sales Agent Requirements
All sales agents renewing for the first time are required to take the 12-Hour New Agent Course and a state-approved 3-hour core topic. The remaining 3 hours may consist of any core or elective topic.
Late Renewal - Expired Less Than 30 Days
Licensees may be renewed late online within 30 days past expiration. To renew a license an individual must complete 18 hours of CE, including 9 hours of approved core topic courses. All new Real Estate Agents (licensed July 1, 2007 - present) are required to take the 12 Hour New Agent Course in order to renew their license. CE is not required if renewing as inactive.
Reinstate - Expired Over 30 Days and Less Than 6 Months
To reinstate a license, complete 24 hours of CE, including 9 hours of core topics.
Reinstate - Expired Over 6 Months and Less Than 1 Year
To reinstate a license, complete 42 hours of CE, including 9 hours of core topics.
Expired Over 1 Year
Licenses expired for more than one year are not eligible for reinstatement and Utah law requires that licensees reapply as a new applicant.
