Who Needs to Renew Their Rhode Island Real Estate License?
All Rhode Island salespersons and brokers must renew their license every two years.
If licensed prior to January 1, 2020, renewal is due on April 30 of each even-numbered year.
If licensed on or after January 1, 2020, renewal is due every two years on the anniversary of the license issue date.
What Are the Rhode Island Real Estate Continuing Education (CE) Requirements?
All licensees must complete 24 hours of DBR-approved continuing education every two years. At least 9 hours must be in CORE subjects, including 3 hours in Fair Housing. The remaining 15 hours may be in elective or CORE topics.
Licensees exempt from continuing education include those licensed before December 12, 1984, attorneys licensed in Rhode Island and in good standing with the RI Supreme Court, active licensees of Massachusetts and Connecticut who obtained their Rhode Island license through reciprocity, and active licensees who are Florida residents and obtained their license through the Florida Mutual Recognition Agreement.
