What Are the Pennsylvania Real Estate Continuing Education (CE) Requirements and Deadlines?
For the 2024-2026 renewal cycle (5/31/26 CE deadline), licensees must complete 14 hours of CE, including at least 2 hours of Fair Housing and 3 hours of Agency. The coursework must be completed between Aug. 30, 2024 and May 31, 2026 in order to meet the renewal requirement.

Who is Exempt from Completing Continuing Education?
The continuing education requirement does not apply to reciprocal license holders or cemetery brokers, cemetery salespersons, builder-owner salespersons, timeshare salespersons, campground membership salespersons and rental listing referral agents who hold standard licenses.
How Can I Complete My Pennsylvania Real Estate Continuing Education?
Continuing education courses can be completed live in person in a classroom or webinar, or online. All courses must be approved by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission.
Late Renewals - Expired Less Than 5 Years
A licensed broker or salesperson who wishes to activate a license that has been placed on inactive status shall be required to document 14 hours of continuing education. These 14 hours do NOT have any mandatory topic requirements. Per Section 35.382(b) of the Regulations, continuing education that is used to reactivate a license cannot be used to renew the license during the same renewal period. An additional 14 hours of continuing education will need to be completed prior to renewal.
The continuing education that is used to reactivate a license cannot be used to renew the license during the same renewal period. Therefore, make sure that the current mandatory course requirements are not a part of your 14-hour reactivation coursework. Late Renewals - Expired 5 Years or More
Per Section 501(b) of the Real Estate Licensing and Registration Act, “Any person who remains inactive for a period of five years without renewing his license shall, prior to having a license reissued to him, submit to and pass the examination pertinent to the license for which the person is reapplying.”

This is my First License Renewal as a Salesperson in Pennsylvania. What Do I Need to Do?
Salespersons renewing for the first time must complete 14-hours of Commission-developed modules in order to renew their license. Empire Learning does offer this Pennsylvania: 14-Hour Mandatory First Renewal Course to satisfy the full requirement. First-time renewals do not need to satisfy the standard 14-hour continuing education requirement.

How Do I Know Empire Learning is an Approved Provider in Pennsylvania?

How Does Pennsylvania Verify My CE Completion?
Providers do not report course completion to the PA Real Estate Commission. Keep your certificates of completion in your records to verify that you are in compliance.
What Are the Latest Updates to CE Requirements for Pennsylvania?
The PA State Real Estate Commission changes the required topics with each renewal cycle. The most recent update, announced in late 2024, stats the the 14 hours of CE must include 5 required hours for the 2026 renewal: 3 hours of Agency and 2 hours of Fair Housing.
