Who Needs to Renew Their Pennsylvania Real Estate License?

All active and inactive Pennsylvania Real Estate Salespersons and Brokers are required to renew every two years. Licenses expire on May 31 every even-numbered year.

What Are the Pennsylvania Real Estate Continuing Education (CE) Requirements and Deadlines?

For the 2024–2026 license renewal cycle (due May 31, 2026), licensees must complete 14 hours of CE, including 3 hours of Agency and 2 hours of Fair Housing. The coursework must be completed by May 31, 2026 in order to meet the renewal requirement. Scroll down for the required continuing education for first renewal as a Salesperson.

Who is Exempt from Completing Continuing Education?

The continuing education requirement does not apply to inactive licensees who are not activating their license, reciprocal license holders or cemetery brokers, cemetery salespersons, builder-owner salespersons, timeshare salespersons, campground membership salespersons and rental listing referral agents who hold standard licenses.

This is my First License Renewal as a Salesperson in Pennsylvania. How do I renew my license?

Salespersons renewing for the first time must complete 14-hours of Commission-developed modules in order to renew their license. Empire Learning does offer this Pennsylvania: 14-Hour Mandatory First Renewal Course to satisfy the full requirement. First-time renewals do not need to satisfy the standard 14-hour continuing education requirement.

How Does Pennsylvania Verify My CE Completion?

Providers do not report course completions to the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission. Licensees must keep their CE certificates of completion in their records in the event of an audit. 

What Are the Latest Updates to CE Requirements for Pennsylvania?

The 2026 cycle requires 5 mandatory hours: 3 in Agency and 2 in Fair Housing. Each cycle may introduce new mandatory topics.

How Do I Renew My Pennsylvania Real Estate License?

Renew your license online via the PALS system operated by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission. You’ll receive an email with your registration code about 60 days before expiration (around late March in even-numbered years). 

What is the late renewal policy in Pennsylvania?

There is no grace period for late renewals—licenses expire on May 31 of every even-numbered year, and you must renew by that deadline. For more information, click on What if my license is expired? above.
