Oregon Real Estate License Renewal Requirements

Who Needs to Renew Their Oregon Real Estate License?

All active brokers and principal brokers must renew their licenses every two years on their individual license anniversary date.

What Are the Oregon Real Estate Continuing Education (CE) Requirements?

Oregon licensees must complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years.

NOTE: OREA recently updated the CE course requirements:

For all second and subsequent license renewals through December 31, 2025, OREA requires you complete 3 hours of the Law and Rule Required Course (LARRC), and the remaining hours in elective courses.

For all second and subsequent license renewals on or after January 1, 2026, OREA requires you complete 2 hours of LARRC and a new 2-hour State and Federal Fair Housing course.

Inactive licenses do not require continuing education for renewal. There are no exemptions from continuing education for active licenses.

When Is Oregon Real Estate Continuing Education Due?

Continuing education must be completed before submitting your license renewal, which is due every two years on the license expiration date.

How Can I Check My Oregon Real Estate License Renewal Deadline?

Your renewal deadline is always tied to your license anniversary month. You can look up a license expiration date on the OREA public license search website. The Oregon Real Estate Agency will also send an email notice on the first day of your renewal month.

How Can I Complete My Oregon Real Estate Continuing Education?

Courses may be completed online or in person through state-approved providers. Empire Learning offers self-paced online courses designed specifically for Oregon licensees.

How Does Oregon Verify My CE Completion?

Effective January 1, 2026, House Bill 3137 requires all licensees to complete a new two-hour State and Federal Fair Housing course. At the same time, the LARRC will be reduced to two hours and updated with new objectives, and the Advanced Practices requirement will be reduced to 26 hours.
