Who Needs to Renew Their Oklahoma Real Estate License?

Oklahoma Resident and Non-Resident Sales Associates, Broker Associates, and Brokers are required to renew their license on the last day of the month every three years from license issuance. The Oklahoma Provisional Sales Associate license is a one-year license expires at the end of the twelfth month including the month of issuance and is nonrenewable. 

What Are the Oklahoma Real Estate Continuing Education Requirements?

All Oklahoma Resident licensees must complete 30 hours of CE prior to license renewal. Each license designation has specific required course topics that must be completed.

  • Sales Associates and Broker Associates must complete 6 hours of Contract and Forms, 3 hours of Professional Conduct, 1 hour each of Broker Relationships Act, Code and Rules, Fair Housing, and Hot Topic. Empire Learning offers complete 30-Hour package options for license renewal.
  • Brokers must complete 15 hours of Broker-in-Charge, and 6 hours of Contracts and Forms. Empire Learning offers 15-Hour package options for Brokers as we do not offer the 15-hour Broker-in-Charge course at this time.

All Oklahoma Non-Resident licensees must complete 8 hours of continuing education which must consist of 6 hours of Contract and Forms and 1 hour each of Broker Relationships Act, and Code and Rules. Empire Learning offers all 8 hours in any of our individual course catalogs.

When is the Oklahoma Real Estate Continuing Education Deadline?

The continuing education must be completed and license must be renewed prior to midnight on the date of license expiration.

How Can I Complete My Oklahoma Real Estate Continuing Education?

All continuing education courses in Oklahoma may be completed live in person in a classroom or webinar, or online. All providers and courses must be approved by the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission.

Are There Any Other Requirements Regarding My OK Continuing Education?

Yes!  All Oklahoma courses must be completed within six months from the date of enrollment. Once you enroll in a course, you have six months to complete it in our system, per OREC regulations.

This Is My first License Renewal As A Provisional Sales Associate. What Do I Need To Do?

Initial real estate licenses, called Provisional Sales Associate licenses, are non-renewable.  The 45-Hour Post-license course must be completed prior to the Provisional Sales Associate's license expiration date.  Empire Learning does not offer the Post-License education course at this time.

What Are The Most Recent Rule Changes To Continuing Education In Oklahoma?

For licensees expiring on or after June 1, 2025, the required continuing education requirements were increased from 21 hours to 30 hours for resident licensees. The required course categories were also increased from 6 to 13 hours within the 30-hour requirement. Non-Resident licenses also have an increased requirement from 3 to 8 hours.  These new requirements are all listed above on this page.

How Do I Renew My Oklahoma Real Estate License?

To renew your license with OREC, go to the OREC License Portal and login to renew.  

What Happens If I Do Not Complete My CE Before My License Expiration Date?

Licensees that do not submit their continuing education in time for renewal will be changed to a lapsed status. Prior to the expiration date, licensees may choose to put their license on inactive status until the CE can be completed and any remaining renewal requirements have been met.  To put your license on inactive status, submit a Status Change request in the OREC License Portal. To renew a lapsed license, click on the “What if my license is expired?” above on this web page.
