Who Needs to Renew Their Real Estate License?
All Minnesota real estate Salespersons and Brokers licenses expire on June 30 every 2 years.
What Are the Minnesota Real Estate Continuing Education Requirements?
All Minnesota Salespersons and Brokers are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education in a two-year renewal period, with an annual requirement of 15 hours per year by June 15. Each year, the Department of Commerce determines the topic for the Required Module course that must be completed as part of the 15 required hours. In addition, each licensee is required to complete 1 hour each of Agency Law and Fair Housing course topics.
"Commercial-only" Brokers and Salespersons who are engaged solely in the commercial real estate business and whose commercial-only status has been verified with the Commerce Department through the required filing do not have to complete the Required Module, Agency Law, or Fair Housing courses, but must fulfill the continuing education credit hour requirements.
When is the Minnesota Continuing Education Deadline?
A total of 15 hours of continuing education must be completed each year by June 15. For 2025, the Salesperson and Broker Required Module: Risk Management & Minnesota License Procedures, does not satisfy the 1 hour of Agency and 1 hour of Fair Housing requirements. We anticipate offering this course in April!
