Who Needs to Renew Their Louisiana Real Estate License?
All active and inactive Salespersons and Brokers in Louisiana have a license expiration date of December 31 annually. However, the license renewal deadline is September 30. Renewal after this date will incur a late fee.
What are the Louisiana Real Estate Continuing Education (CE) Requirements?
All active licensees must complete 12 hours of continuing education that includes specific hours in mandatory course topics specified by LREC. This year, the required mandatory topic for all licensees is the 4-hour LREC 2025 Mandatory: Navigating the New Normal course. When is the Louisiana Real Estate Continuing Education Due?
Continuing education must be completed and reported to LREC each year by midnight on December 31. Make sure you complete your courses with enough time for schools to report your completion to LREC.
When Do I Need To Renew My Louisiana Real Estate License?
In Louisiana, licensees may complete continuing education after renewing their license. The renewal period for licensees is as follows:
- Timely Renewal Period: August 1 – September 30
- First Delinquent Renewal Period: October 1 – November 15 ($50 delinquent fee for active and inactive license renewal)
- Second Delinquent Renewal Period: November 16-December 31 ($200 delinquent fee for active license renewal; $50 delinquent fee for inactive license renewal)
How Can I Complete My Louisiana Real Estate Continuing Education?
Continuing education hours may be completed live in person in a classroom or webinar, or online. All providers and courses must be approved by the Louisiana Real Estate Commission.
