Who Needs to Renew Their Indiana Real Estate License?

All active and inactive Indiana real estate brokers and managing brokers, including referral licenses must renew their license by June 30 every three years. The current license term expires on June 20, 2026.

What Are the Indiana Real Estate Continuing Education (CE) Requirements?

All active and unassigned Brokers and Managing Brokers must complete 12 hours of CE each year, totaling 36 hours every three years for license renewal. There is no required course category or topic for Brokers; however, Managing Brokers must complete 4 hours of CE dedicated to the necessary business and management skills and legal knowledge needed by a managing broker, and 8 hours in any category or course topic.. 

All inactive and referral licensees are not required to complete CE.

Empire Learning offers complete 12-hour packages for Brokers and 8-hour packages for Managing Brokers in Indiana.

When Is Indiana Real Estate Continuing Education Due?

The annual 12 hours of continuing education must be completed by June 30 each year. For the current license term:

July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024                    12 Hours CE
July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025                    12 Hours CE
July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026.                   12 Hours CE

If you are behind in your CE course completions, be sure to catch up now and have all 36 hours of CE completed before you renew your license by June 30, 2026.

How Can I Check My Indiana Real Estate License Status and Renewal Deadline?

The current renewal deadline is June 30, 2026. Renewal notices are sent approximately 90 days before expiration.

How Can I Complete My Indiana Real Estate Continuing Education?

Continuing education may be completed online, in person, or through webinars with an Indiana-approved provider.

This is My First License Renewal as a Broker in Indiana. How do I renew my license?

New brokers must complete a 30-hour post-licensing course within two years of licensure, and then the standard 12-hour CE requirement in the third year for license renewal. 

This is My First License Renewal as a Managing Broker in Indiana. How do I renew my license?

For newly licensed Managing brokers, the standard 12 hours of CE must be completed annually, which must include 4 hours of management-specific education.

How Do I Know Empire Learning is an Approved Provider in Indiana?

Empire Learning is an Indiana-approved CE provider. You can verify this by searching the IN PLA Facility Search Tool. On the right side of the page, next to Facility Name: enter “Empire Learning” and click Search.

How Does Indiana Verify My CE Completion?

All approved providers report course completions to the Commission. Empire Learning reports course completions every business day. Licensees are required to retain copies of course completion certificates in case of audit.

Renewal Information

Once you have completed the required education for renewal, renew your license online at  the Indiana Licensing Enterprise.  Login with your license number and follow the renewal steps. You do not have to submit your CE certificates during renewal.  After the renewal period is over, the Commission will conduct random audits. If chosen, you will receive an email to submit copies of your CE certificates at that time.
